We Did Your Site was a project started by WayLay Design back in November 2010 to offer free homepage website mockups for businesses and organizations. In such a saturated market, we wanted to approach web design differently than our competitors, so we dropped the pitching and decided to let our design speak for itself.

Our Inspiration

When approaching potential clients, one thing we quickly realized is that the majority of them don’t want you coming to them with a pitch. They would rather come looking for you because this puts them in complete control of the decision to hire a web designer. That’s not to say that cold calling and knocking on doors doesn’t work. It does, but we learned that the same amount of time spent cold calling could be spent giving people something more tangible than a sales pitch, such as an actual website mockup.

Our Process

Our process is simple. Basically, we choose businesses or organizations based on favorable personal experiences as a consumer, good reviews from other consumers online, requests that we receive and evaluate, or referrals from friends and colleagues. We do not use any website templates for the designs. We also do not use watermarked stock photos or filler text in our mockups because they defeat the purpose of the personal and finished feeling we are trying to deliver. Instead, we use our resources to obtain high quality images and we write our own content for the project if none is available or provided.

Our Goal

With our mockups, we want to show what we can do for your specific business, not just what we’ve done for others. Every business has unique needs. It would only make sense that we would give you a preview before you make a commitment with us based on our work for other clients who had needs different from your own. Think of it as a free sample of the kind of work we will do for you.

We like to do websites, plain and simple. We believe that the difference is in the details and our goal is to show you that we take pride in what we do, we’re friendly and easy to work with, and we want to show you that you can count on our dedication to your project.
